Stephen Stockdale

Stephen joined the YMCA CT Board in about 2009  and became its chairman soon thereafter. During a six-year stint, he had the dual role of board chairman and acting general manager. In 2017 he was appointed general manager of YMCA CT and has a very diverse role which includes overseeing a newly launched outdoor school; a residence; a programmes department, and a tea garden and conference centre called Little Stream in Klein Constantia. With board support he was able to push for a complete “face lift” of the Y’s property in Obs and make radical changes at Little Stream. While switching off after work can be challenging, he enjoys walking, going to the beach and relaxing with friends.

Colleen Davids

Colleen is from Walvis Bay in Namibia where she grew up with nine siblings. She came to Cape Town in 1992 and started at YMCA CT in 2012. She’s currently the deputy general manager and surrogate mom at the Y. Admired for her dedication, Colleen enjoys helping people and benefitting children is particularly dear to her – which inspired her to help found a children’s home in Ottery in which she still serves as a board member. She is also passionate about cooking.

Channelle Jansel

Chanelle was raised in Strandfontein and first came to the Y in 2016. She is the receptionist and works closely with the accounts department. She enjoys traveling, spending time with her son and staying in touch with her close-knit family. She also confesses to having a soft heart for children and sees great importance in providing them with guidance.

Robin Scholtz

Robin joined the Y in 2015 and played a key role in getting its gym started – he later served as its fitness instructor where he specialized in high intensity interval training three times a week. He has also assisted in other areas of YMCA and has become very interested in the programmes side. In 2017, the Y established a new school camps and courses department. Robin heads up that department and plays a pivotal role in taking schools from around the Western Cape on Leadership and General Life Skills/Team-building adventure camps – which he enjoys very much.

Sindiswa Mbude

Sindiswa Mbude transitioned from a ten-year strategic brand management career, into the social services industry in 2013 – to assist in making sustainable changes to children’s lives. Currently, Mbude is the programmes manager at YMCA Cape Town, leading the running of youth-based development and empowerment programmes. Mbude is also a volunteer tutor of a Basic Digital Skills Course, run at the Y. Mbude has a passion for handmade crafts whenever she has spare time.

Leroy Glam

Leroy is from Cape Town and started at the Y in 2018. He is the deputy programmes manager which involves working with the programmes team and outside partners on the development, running and evaluation of the Y’s social outreach endeavours. He finds the collaborative aspects of life in the Y’s programmes department and learning from colleagues especially rewarding. He also enjoys sports, friendships and family time.
